Waves and colonies

Hives keep sending waves, swarms of cells, down the lanes, and the colonies on each lane guard the way. You have to bring down at least one colony before you can attack the enemy hive.

Hives and respawning

Hives bombard enemies that come close, and staying behind your own hive restores your HP. When you fall, you respawn at your hive. Lose a colony and your fallen teammates come straight back while a reinforcement wave heads out, giving you a chance to strike back.

Habits of a winning team

  • Head into colonies behind your waves
  • When your wave is getting pushed back, back it up with your swarm
  • When a warning pops up, work out with your teammates who defends and who pushes
  • When your HP runs low, recover behind your hive and head back out

What changed in v0.4.0

New

  • Hive Break: split into the Blue and Red teams, and the first team to destroy the enemy hive wins. Choose 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3, or team up with friends using an invite code
  • Waves: each hive keeps sending swarms of cells down the lanes. Every third wave brings special cells too, and waves grow stronger over time
  • Colonies: a colony guards each lane and attacks approaching enemies. You must bring down at least one colony before you can damage the enemy hive
  • Hives shoot spores at nearby enemies, and staying behind your hive restores HP
  • In Hive Break, you respawn at your hive as many times as you need when you fall
  • You can now change your nickname in custom rooms and the Hive Break team lobby

Balance

  • Leveling is faster in Battle Royale. In Endless, early levels come faster, and later levels need more and more XP
